Flagler Integrative Veterinary Center (FIVC) opened in October 2012 and we have been very busy. We can't thank our clients enough for the trust they have placed in us for the care of their furry friends. FIVC fuses holistic and traditional Western veterinary medicine bringing veterinary healthcare full circle, offering you the most comprehensive care for your pets. Our goal has always been (and continues to be) to provide services that can speed healing, alleviate pain, and help maintain a good quality of life through modalities not typically offered in a general veterinary practice.

*** ALERT UPDATE ***

H3N2 Canine Influenza Virus

Since the original flu outbreak among show dogs in Deland, FL and Perry GA in May, there have been 28 known confirmed cases, for a total of 47 cases in Florida. We continue to monitor the situation closely. Should the disease continue to spread, we will likely offer the vaccine to at-risk dogs. Please continue to use diligence and avoid exposure of you or your pets to animals unknown to you. The highest risk of infection is among dogs frequenting dog parks, boarding facilities, and grooming facilities. The virus can survive in the environment for up to 48 hours, so keep this in mind if you are travelling with your pet. If you are needing to board your pet, please call the boarding facility to see if they are requiring vaccination. Vaccination consists of 2 vaccines 2 weeks apart and maximum protection is not reached until 5 weeks after the initial vaccine.

Symptoms of canine flu are similar to that of human flu (people do not get sick from canine flu): fever, coughing and malaise are the most common. If you have any questions, please call our office!
